Who We Are:

The Dancesport Team is a competitive group of ballroom dancers. We perform and compete in Las Vegas and on the west coast. Team members are trained in both smooth and latin dances and compete as a team and as individual couples.

Our History:

Begun in 1989 by Donna Medrano, it was her desire was that as many students as possible be introduced to the health benefits, social benefits and the sheer enjoyment and exhilaration of ballroom dance.

Since its inception, the Rebel Dancesport Team has performed at many venues here in Las Vegas. Some of these include: UNLV Dance Dept Concerts, co-sponsored dances held in the MSU Ballroom, Opportunity Village, St Michael De Salles Catholic Church, An Evening With the Pops Orchestra in Summerlin and the Latin Chamber of Commerce.

This group also represents UNLV and Las Vegas at various collegiate, amateur, and professional ballroom competitions on the west coast. Some of the events that we have attended include: Day by the Shores hosted by UC San Diego, Orange Blossom Ball hosted by UC Riverside, Cardinal Classic hosted by Stanford, San Diego Dancesport Championships(professional), Western Regional Championships(amateur) and Desert Challenge hosted by UNLV. Over the years this team has brought home a large number of honors including producing a National Collegiate Smooth Champion couple, a National Collegiate Latin couple and a National Collegiate Standard couple. We are striving to continue to produce the caliber of competitive dancer that will represent UNLV and Las Vegas well.

Our Future:

We will continue to perform and compete in Las Vegas and on the West Coast. We are striving to expand and build a larger and even more competitive group. We hope to be able to compete in other events outside of the west coast.
